In Memory of Darnell Browning
This memorial website is being created
in memory of Darnell Browning who was the epitome of a Christian in today's
society. Anyone in her presence knew immediately of her great love for
missions - to help anyone, anyway, near or far and witness to them of Christ's
love for all.
Darnell and her husband Bill moved to
Ty Ty, Georgia around 1999. They immediately joined the First
Baptist Church here. Bill's health was very bad, but Darnell quickly
involved herself as much as possible in the church. The WMU activities
were most important to her. Among her many endeavors were being President
of the WMU for many years (always urging and encouraging all women to become a
part of this organization), being active and innovative in the church's mission
projects and trips, serving as Treasurer of Mell Baptist WMU and being a Mell
Baptist Prayer Group member. After Bill wend home to be with the Lord,
Darnell regularly attended all State WMU meetings and conventions when
possible. Her heart was all about WMU and missions as she served her
Lord. Anytime anyone had a prayer need Darnell was the first to be called
as a prayer warrior.
Darnell was fun to be with. She
always had a smile and was "literally just running from one project"
to another. She was a member of a ladies card group who met once a week;
she stayed informed of world events; love discussing politics and watching the
Braves. She liked to garden, can, bake, and share this with all. Her
cornbread was the best!
This wonder Christian lady was
diagnosed with terminal cancer in the spring of 2009 and died in May 2009.
Her last weeks were such a struggle - filled with great pain and unable to eat
very well. She continued to welcome company until the day before she died,
though her only response was with her eyes and a smile.
Darnell was given a wonderful gift
before she died when she learned her grandson, Corey, was chosen to be a
journeyman (a missionary for 2 years) to South America. How her heart must
have overflowed with rejoicing for him to be on the mission field.
Darnell is missed greatly, but we know
our loss is Heaven's gain. Proverbs

Dear Bro. Duggan,
My name is Beverly
Stubblefield. My father was pastor of the Ecru Baptist Church where Mrs. Darnell
played the organ many, many years. Her daughter Linda is a very good friend of
mine as is Linda's husband Scott. I think your website memorial was a wonderful
reminder of how to remember Mrs. Darnell. I
plan to make a contribution to the Ecru Baptist Church mission offering in her
honor as a result of your memorial.
Respectfully,
Beverly A. Stubblefield, Ph. D.
